8 September 2008

Yesterday, Sunday, I took Latha to her first Shishubharati class at Lexington High School. The place was crowded. The person in charge was a gentleman by the name of Dilip Gandhi. After the inevitable introduction and listing of instructions, the children were sent off to their classes. Each child spends an hour in a "culture" class, and an hour in a language class. Classes are set up so that you have to pick one language and go with it. We registered Latha for Tamil but we are considering switching her to Hindi.

We returned home around 1.20 p.m., had lunch. Around 3.00 p.m. I hit the bed and napped for about an hour. By then Chaur had arrived on a surprise visit. We had chai, then we went out to The Home Depot to return some landscape edging Appa and I had purchased. I bought four pieces of a different type of edging in order to complete a circle that Appa had started around a tree. We also went to the Indian store and lamented the high price of rice.

After dinner, Charu went back home. I got started on my emails. Worked for about 3 hours before sleeping.

13 January 2008

Vidhya took Latha to her singing class today.  Madhu insisted on going with her, so all three of them made the trip.  Amma made katrika kootu, rasam, and vazhakai fry for the rest of us and carrot soup for Ramya.  I ate.

Madhu slept well this afternoon.  Vidhya went to the temple.  Ramya entertained us all in the evening with her antics and actions.  Appa called and spoke with all of us.  Shyam called briefly but had to attend to some work.  Charu returned from India today and called us in the evening.

I went to the laundry, the grocery store, and the town library.   Came back without clothes, with food, and a few Hercule Poirot DVDs.

For dinner we will probably try to clean up the remnants of lunch.  But none of us seem to very hungry.

And tomorrow the weathermen are predicting 12 inches of snow.  The last time they predicted 4-6 inches and we got more than twice that amount.  I hope that was an aberration and not an indication of things to come.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Or, in other words, nothing beats a visual. So here are some recent snaps.

Today - Feb 6

We had a normal day today. Latha fell asleep earlier than usual - at 8.30 p.m. Her cough is a bit better now and I think she is sleeping more as her body tries to work it off. Vidhya has a cold as well but is feeling fine. Prem has fought off his cold and his cough and is now spending time writing blogs.
